Apparently I have a bit of an oddball Winchester 70 action, a 70A? Not 7-5/8" spacing but 7.57" blind mag long action pushfeed. Seems like a decent to excellent unit with old school trigger. Seeking info to help source a good functional stock. Anything known to be adaptable? Serial number G2326XX. Vintage? Appreciate any assistance or discussion. Trade bait? I need a Howa Mini barreled action, heavy barrel. Maybe 6ARC or 6.5 Grendel. Also seeking Rem 700 long or short actions.

0.05” off? Bet it’s just measuring error. Have you tried it in a post 64 la stock?

SN looks 670 ish. No Winchester stocks on hand. It's definitely measures 7.57". Does it matter? I don't know. Appreciate the link. I don't know how to identify this action as 670, 670A, 70A or other variant. Matte, no jeweling, blind, 3-position swing. Hmmmm.

It’s a 670 because if not it’s a model 70 classic made in 1998.

it’s a 670/670A. 670/670A had their own sn range. They started at sn 100000 in 69 that put a G in the SN, yours is a 6 digit G SN which is unique to the 670’s. Regular model 70’s back in 72 had 7 digit SN’s. From what’s been posted 670A were introduced in 72 but 670’s we’re still being made as well. Both had 3 position safeties on them which was new for 1972. Sometime in 72 the 670 moniker was dropped. Everything was/supposed to be 670A the A indicating mechanical change to the rifle ie 3 position safety. In 74 the 670 was not cataloged, the assumption in 75 Winchester brought the sn in line with standard model 70 sn. 76/77 you start seeing 670 with 7 digit SN again just an assumption. Anyhow you have a 670/670A.
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

It’s a 670 because if not it’s a model 70 classic made in 1998. It must be! And there's Model 670 stocks galore. Thanks man.

Thanks! Post '72 670/670A... WTF is a 70A... Hmmm.
So, did all the LA blind magazine versions, 70A, 670, 670A, fit the same stocks? Thus, any original blind mag long action stock should fit, or is there something more, re 7.570" vs 7.625" I see now Boyds has some 4.xx" measurement for the 670,. I'll check it out... Making progress.
THANKS
+1 Campfire!

That safety lever looks very similar to the Sears model 53. There are a couple on Gunbroker.com (Sears model 53). However, they all have two piece trigger guards. I don't claim to be a M70 expert by any stretch. I'm just posting an observation.

Hmmm. Thanks for the note.
Speak up if you want this. Two month delay on shipping, lol.
4-7/16" between front and middle screw like Boyds lists for the 670. I dig the burly built in recoil lug. Tang screw is a thru-hole, not blind. Maybe I should have paid attention when Grandpa was talking Model 70s, but, at our place it was Rem Rem Rem....

The hole spacing is the same as any other post ‘64 long action model 70. This will drop into any post 64 long action stock. If not setup as a blind mag, the stock will also need a new mag and bottom metal.

I had one of these that I dropped into a blind mag Winlite stock and it worked great. One of my biggest selling regrets.

For clarity Boyds lists 7-5/8" for the mod 70, and 4-7/16 without the corresponding longer measurement for the 670! They're awesome, just like the At-One. LOL Anyway, there's a reason for that 0.055" somewhere! ✌️ No desire for a floorplate so...

I have posted the story a couple times of a friend who pulled a 670 out of the local river one summer after it went in the soup previous deer season. Scrubbed it down. Dried it out. Oiled the snot out of the metal. Refinished the wood. Was his primary deer rifle for a number of years...
