Any news on Marlin doing anything with the 308 Marlin Express case ?

How bout a .250 Marlin Express or maybe something with the .27 caliber ?

Somebody on the web already had this idea, but how about a 338 Marlin Express?
Essentially a 338 Fed that will fit in the 336 action.

So something similar to the 333JDJ then? I really wish Marlin would have been able to re-engineer their platforms to accept some of the more modern high pressure rounds. Hopefully with Cerebrus(Remington) taking over they will be able to get the capital needed to make the 1894 in (454,500, 475Linebaugh/480 Ruger) I would even be happy with an 1894 in 500 Special. Similarly it would be nice if Marlin could come out with an enlarged 1895 to handle the 50 Alaskan. I would guess that their new bolt action is DOA, but maybe Remington will use it to replace their 710/770 or whatever it is called now.

They announced and catalogued a 336 in 475 Linebaugh about 4 years ago.
It quietly disappeared from the website about 3 months later. The rumors were to the effect that they didn't wind up with enough meat in the chamber to ensure a safety margin.
But it would be sweet if they could make it work.

WHat happens when you reload the 308Express? Can you get anywhere near the same velocity from a reload as Hornady is from there factory loads? If all this is is a 30/30 with different powder in it I don't see it as a big deal.

So far as I've read. No one has even been remotely close to performance of the Hornady 308 ammunition for hand loading. Now this is not to say at some point they won't get there. This even with closer in range where the pointy tip issue is not at play. I believe even muzzel velocity so far no one has been able to match.

So at this point I believe you have to juice up a 30-30AI to even get close to the new 308MX at this point.

So at this point the 308MX is higher numbers and flatter shooting. But this doesn't necessarily mean it is "better performing than a 30-30". Depending upon what performance you need.

If you hunt and do not exceed 200 yard shots. Then the 30-30 with the new LE ammo especially in the 24" barrel will probably fufill your "needs".

Just IMHO
