I know next to nothing on Nazi stuff and saw a Luger with an insignia in the grips that I had never seen before. I am not into this stuff but history intrigues me. Do any of you guys know what this insignia means? I have never seen a Luger with this inlaid into the grips.

I’m 95% certain that’s an addition well after the war. I don’t believe any of these were issued with the markings on the grip. Some had the eagle and swastika stamped into the metal itself, but not a medallion on the grip.

This was Nazi proof marked with the "Chicken" in the metal and all matching numbers including the holster and was nickel finish. I didn't know if it was possibly an officers gun or something. Like I said, this is FAR from my area of expertise and Google didn't have much for detailed info.

That inlay is severely lacking the Teutonic precision one would expect from something done “ins Deutschland”

Agreed on bubba- ization but also curios on the symbol.
Wikipedia says..
The Nazis' principal symbol was the swastika, which the newly established Nazi Party formally adopted in 1920.[1] The formal symbol of the party was the Parteiadler, an eagle atop a swastika.

I have no interest in that sort of stuff at all. I prefer model 70's. A buddy sent me pictures of it and was asking what I knew about them which is NOTHING.

I too am not too well versed in Nazi stuff and Lugers either, but I'm happy to share my immediate thought........
This was probably a GI bring back that he or someone he gave/sold it to and had it Nickel Plated and added the "custom grip enhancements" for one of 2 reasons. 1. Because that's what the owner wanted. 2. So, he could make up great stories of how he captured it from Herman Goring himself! Or some other high ranking Nazi officer.
Please let us know what you learn about it.
