Trail Boss seems to be impossible to find so what do you guys use for a reduced load? Bullet and powder.

Kind of like a 1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV with a Ford Pinto engine. What's the point?

4227, longshot are a couple I’ve tried. Do you cast your own bullets? I mostly shoot an NOE 400 grain cup nose from my four inch

I've only used titegroup with the 400gn Sierra FP.
15gn - 1163fps
16gn - 1209fps
17gn - 1254fps but recoil was still up there so I dropped them and went back to full loads using the lighter 275gn Barnes X where I settled on 40grains H110 for 1861fps and groups just over 1 inch at 50 yards. This was my whitetail load for timber hunting and it worked very well.

A friend of mine killed several deer and bears with his 3” using an LBT 440 WFN at 1000fps. It was easy to shoot and would penetrate completely through a deer or black bear from any angle he ever tried.

Sadly he’s been deceased for several years now so I can’t ask him what powder he used.

That is too bad as it sounds like just what I am looking for.
I would like to shoot the gun a bunch and not beat up my hands needlessly. I will shoot full house loads with it but it not something I really enjoy spending day at the range with.

16.0 grains of Titegroup under a 340-350 grain cast lead semi wadcutter. Shoots great and plenty accurate in my 8 3/8” .500. Killed about 10 or so deer with it, including 3 of my 5 biggest bucks.

50 yards off the back porch rail with the 16 grain Titegroup load, with an original Bushnell Holosight that has been on it since I bought it. No bags or other rests, just casually rested on the porch rail.
