Today would’ve been his birthday.
Boggy was one of the first guys to get in here to the’Campfire after we all got kicked outta Shooters.com.
His whit and wisdom graced the fire for a long time.
Helluva guy, I was lucky enough to consider him a friend. Although we never met face to face, we had quite a few conversations over the telephone. History was usually the subject, but hunting and family were alway covered. James was a kindred spirit.
One of the truly great members on here.
I figure that he’s upstairs, probably hunting with my Old Man on that Big Mountain that Dad always always spoke of hunting someday.😀
Just wanted to give everyone a shout out, and see how many of you reprobates remember him.

BCR was a great guy.

I only knew him from his posts here. We have lost many good people in the last twenty years.

I knew him well. He and his wife stopped here one day while on vacation and we emailed back and forth a couple times a year.Last few times it was rejected. Now I know why. Great guy. He helped make this forum to what it use to be.

I really respected him. I still use his recipe for chili (no beans!) that he sent me some years back. Was really sad to hear of his passing.

The same. I only knew him from the Campfire. He was a walking encyclopedia as I recall.

I met him once at a TX meet and greet in a Cabalas. I asked if dressing a hog was much different than processing a deer. He pulled out his pocket knife on offered a demonstration... on me shocked wink

He has been missed here by me. A lot of knowledge and experience that he shared with us.

Did he tell you about knocking down the elephant?
One of my favorite stories.
Going from memory, but something like this.
He had his Dad’s Dodge pickup in town, he was in his teens, and he was, in his words “sparking” some of the girls he knew.
The circus was in town. He put that Dodge in reverse and dumped the clutch, showing off.
He said he backed into an elephant, hitting its hind legs at the knees.
The elephant more or less sat on the truck, bustling the springs!
It sounds like a story, maybe it was. But I always took him at his word. A true friend, and someone who I miss hearing from and talking to.
I gotta say, I’m looking forward to meeting him up yonder. In the meantime, I think him and my Dad are two peas in a pod, and I figure they’ve already got my spot staked out on that Big Mountain.😀

I too met Boggy face to face, along with his gracious wife when they were visiting here in San Antonio. He remarked that my AO looked like Nuevo Laredo grin

James was the real deal, genuine old time Texan, and I was flattered and honored to have him as a friend.

Hi Bart!

Well I didn't really know him and he had a really matter of fact expression....
