Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers - it means a lot to me. Lotta' good hombres here on the 'fire. A feller couldn't ask for a better group of people to be able to call friends.
Dad was not in any pain as he passed, or indeed during the last week as he slowly declined. He went to sleep this past Monday and he only awoke briefly on Tuesday as I was at his side. I held his hand and said: Hi Dad. He slowly opened his eyes, slowly turned his head and looked at me. He smiled and then he fell back into that unresponsive sleep and did not awaken again.
Today, when we realized that his passing was imminent, we called my brother to tell him to come back since he had just left. Unfortunately, he arrived too late. I hope he doesn't regret that.
My daughter is flying in from EP tomorrow and we have many cousins flying in from the left coast, as well as our many local cousins, so we'll have plenty of family around.
Again, I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.

sorry for your loss. this May it will be 2 years since i've lost my dad. he was 72yo and he was asleep when he had a massive heartache. i still feel the loss of my dad every day.

Very sorry for your loss. Be grateful you had him as long as did, I lost my dad when I was 23 and wasn’t with him when he passed.
