Got this in a trade awhile back, thinking about putting it on my table at an upcoming gunshow. I guess its a rifle that was cut down, dont know much about these. It is in 6.5x54, decent bore . Has a Beuhler scope rings/mount, with swing away peep sight. Has to be some value in that . I have shot it,functions fine. JC Higgins (weaver) 4x scope
What would you guys ask for it ?

Breda is an Italian firearms manufacturer and as such I would want to make sure that the rifle is chambered for the 6.5x54 M-S and not the 6.5 Carcano.
Yes you can chamber a M-S round and fire it in a Carcano but that is not something to make a habit of. The Lyman site, a model 36 if my memory is
correct is a great find! I got a NECG version 15-20 years ago and paid around $275.00 for it. I would be interested if it is indeed a 6.5x54 M-S

So after WWI Austria was punished and production of MS Rifles was regulated. The work around was to machine the parts and send them to the Breda factory in Italy where they were assembled for sale and many were shipped to Greece where they were selected as a military rifle. Your rifle looks pretty good. MS folks would tell you that you are good to go. Check the floor plate to see if there is a tiny five pointed star.

There is some kind of symbol , hard to see.

I would guess that you have a sporterized Greek military rifle. Interestingly the barrel and stock look to be original Mannlicher, though the stock has been modified with pad and forend tip. Bottom metal is not original to the stock as there is a filler inserted just aft of the trigger guard.

I'm not terribly optimistic about collector value, but for sure a nice lightweight shooter. Having a solid scope mounting system is a plus given the split rear bridge.

Much of the value is in the Lyman 36 sight, for they are quite rare. The last ones that were offered on eBay brought about $500 each. Were it mine and able to source a replacement bolt release, I would probably remove the Lyman sight and sell it separately.

Thanks, agree with all that. The bottom metal has a piece of what looks to be ivory used as a filler behind the trigger guard.
Would be a nice sporter for someone, thinking about putting a price of 900.00 on it , with some ammo and brass, and see what happens. I don’t really want to ship it, pain in the arse .

Don't know if I could sell such a special rifle. It would probably be with me until I died.

Was the stock cut for the peep? How does it work (if scope isn't mounted). Swing out of the way when bolt goes back, spring puts it back in place when bolt goes forward?

Here are some pics. The arm containing the aperture swings out of the way as bolt handle moves through the rear bridge. Mounting the sight requires removal of a small amount of wood from the stock.

Scope and probably the base would need to be removed in order to use the receiver sight.

I am going to list it for a grand with that high dollar Lyman.
