This was a large logging job...

The logger is a very close friend that saved me two premium loads for personal milling.

All of the other loads were sold by the truck. Many went to Pakistan via containers at the port. Strange world.

Lots of N.C. hardwood goes into shipping containers and heads to China as well. They actually get some of our best, unfortunately.

Stick,

You are out of your league screwing with Cash. Very few on this planet understand building materials like he does. Just sayin.

Here in eastern NC a typical load of loblolly pine logs might go 30 tons, give or take. At an assumed/rule-of-thumb rate of 12,000 lbs per thousand board feet (6 tons for those of you in Rio Linda), you have 5,000 board feet per load. 18,255 bf/ 5,000 bd.ft per load = 3.6 + loads. Naturally, this will vary a bit by species (I don't deal with white pine, so I don't have weight tables for it) and state highway weight restrictions.

The biggest problem our country has is not systemic racism, it's systemic stupidity.

Meanwhile... The 135 logs shown in Pic #1 were hauled one mile (log landing to milling landing) on one log truck (two trips). That is a simple fact.

You haul guys...

Are you saying that you could not get 67 logs (13.5' in length)... and 16 in in diameter on a logging truck?

Serious question...

Would that take 20 trucks to haul?

Something like THREE 13.5' logs per truck sound about right?

You must drive Chevys.

67 logs is right at that 44XXX weight to be legal on a flatbed. Assumed a 100% uniform log and the ability to load it so you're not over on drives.

In a state like MI where they realize you can spread weight out on axles and typically cut pulp wood into short lengths - we'll load 164,000 lbs gross and be legal. Each log is like 821 lbs given our wood.

No fugging way... Sticks says it impossible.

How could that possibly be???

BTW... I think you may be a shade heavy on the weight of WP.

Just using the calculator for weight I found on-line. And it also requires that you can get it on there with bridge laws.

Don't really matter... Stick is just having a typical hissy fit.

All menopausal Karens do...

Yes, the carpenter bees get into the timbers. Only a few holes in the logs. I have several traps.

Now that you admit that they weren't hauled on the highway, that makes more sense. You wouldn't get a mile down the road here without Transport busting your ass with a load like that.
