Has anyone used the .300 Savage specific Hornady SSTs? Curious how the perform at 2400 to 2600 fps muzzle velocity.

I'm interested also. Picked up a couple of boxes of the Hornady 150gr SST (300 Savage) a while back but have not had time to work up a load with them.

I haven't but, there's a good bit of information on them in this THF thread. It's a thread on the Wilson Combat 300 Hammer, which I believe launches them in the 2300 fps. range.

It's a pretty long thread though, so may take some digging.

Think.
It's not illegal, yet.

Not sure what bullets you are referring to, but loaded some 125 grain SST in a 300 wsm for reduces loads for a youth. Muzzle velocity was ~2700. The person has shot several deer since with that load, and it performs admirably. Longest shot was 170 yards, which would put impact velocity in the 2400 range. Bullet was foind on offside hide fully mushroomed. Don't know if that helps or not ....

Not 300 Savage specific, but does anyone have any thoughts on the standard .308" 125gr SST at 2790fps? My 30-30 AI shoots it amazingly well but I'm concerned about over-speeding it.
