Here's a link to an optic offering on the Classifieds that was pure bogus.

I'm posting it here to see if this has happened to anyone else. The details are in the link. Kudos to Rick for helping get it exposed.

If you are on any other forums, do not use the same username and password.

This is how people are getting their profiles hacked.

I’m just on the Shotgunworld forum and this one.

New password here. Not that active over there.

For instance, if Shotgun World forum is hacked, your username and password are visible to the hackers. Then they can search “Dirtfarmer” and see if that name shows up on any other forums. If you’ve used the same name and password on any other sites, bam, they can log in and then change your password so you cannot control the account. Then they start scamming in the classifieds using your good name and online identity.

Prevent this by never using the same password on any sites. Have a unique password for every site.

Bingo!

Rick, that does sounds plausible. I did use the same password on both sites.

You think that Gmail email address is the perp’s address? And if Bambam has his number, maybe he’s traceable.

How could he implant his Gmail address and bump mine? Every time you tried to send me a new password, I guess it went to that address.

That guy in Alabama has been doing this for at least 10 years or more. He bounces around on multiple forums. It is not the first time he has been on this forum. And the Sheriff and local LEO know who he is and what he has done. Might not be the same name but the Center Point always pops up.

I caught him on another board trying to sell stuff about 5 years ago.

Looks like I’m getting educated about this stuff.

Fortunately, this scam was flushed before anyone got taken.

And again, Kudos to Rick for his efforts and quick actions to head this guy off before he could score.

Ha!

Easy on Paul, he’s really a good guy. I’ve visited him at his Metairie home and find him to be OK. He lives a few blocks from my daughter’s in-laws.

Of course, that's why I give him a ration of sh*t daily. I'm pretty sure he loves it.

Ya think he’s into some S&M?

Likes to be lashed and bashed?

Hmm….

We need to identify the guy, and give him a week long blanket party.
