I picked up a R700 in 223 a couple of years ago. I’ve got little use for it, and it’s faster twist than anything I like to shoot. I’d like to pull the barrel and replace it with a 300BO barrel in around 16” for use when I hunt pigs. What maker and provider do you guys suggest for a fairly cheap option on a venture like this?

McGowan keeps a stock of profit Remage barrels, no cost to look at their site.

Look into McGowan before you buy. I have no experience but have read several reviews about bad tooling marks left in barrels and little to no support afterwards. Not saying that’s true, just what I have read. I have used X-Caliber barrels several times with success on Savages.

I have several McGowens and several Er Shaws.... my bore scope shows almost perfect bores in the McGowens , not so much in the Shaws..
but the Shaw's outshoot the MCGowen on average... go figure?

Urbanrifleman on the Accurate Shooter site sells Wilson prefits. He's out of Tulsa. He gets good reviews about his barrels being extremely accurate.

I've read good things about his barrels. I think he's also cheaper on average than other prefits.
