Guess nobody else has a 40-65 either I have one, a Ballard single shot, but I make my own brass out of .45-70's. Blackpowder loads throw a 400 grain soft cast bullet hard enough to topple 56 pound steel rams at 500 meters.

Dirty Harry I thought he used a .45-60, not a .40-65?

The 40-65 is a great round. Have two single shots myself!

Dirty Harry I thought he used a .45-60, not a .40-65? I Just read up on it, the rifle was a 45-75 cal. in the movie. Steve McQueen said it was a 45-60. The Real Tom Horn was using a 1894 Win. in 30-30 cal. in the time frame of this movie.

The 40-60 Marlin and 40-60 Colt, are the same as a Winchester 40-65… .
