Don’t see these everyday. I’ve had them for a little while now. Stumbled into them and bought them years ago just due to the fact I never even heard of the 40-65 let alone saw ammo for it. Needless to say they aren’t doing me any good hanging out here so maybe some else could actually use them or want to collect them as I did.

I’d like to clear $75 a box for them so $75 a box plus the ride. If you would like all 4 of them I’ll ship them to your door for $295 and eat the shipping.

I have one, a Ballard single shot, but I make my own brass out of .45-70's. Blackpowder loads throw a 400 grain soft cast bullet hard enough to topple 56 pound steel rams at 500 meters.

I thought he used a .45-60, not a .40-65?

The 40-65 is a great round. Have two single shots myself!

I Just read up on it, the rifle was a 45-75 cal. in the movie. Steve McQueen said it was a 45-60.
The Real Tom Horn was using a 1894 Win. in 30-30 cal. in the time frame of this movie.

The 40-65 is a model 1886 chambering, the 40-60 is a model 1876. 45-75 and 45-60 are model 1876 chamberings. The 40-60 Marlin and 40-60 Colt, are the same as a Winchester 40-65…
