Getting good accuracy out of some be86 and 200 grain rim rocks in my 1911.
Problem is I have had to use 2nd hand #'s to work up a load.
I think one individual went so far as to say one of the big boys Underwood or Buffalo bore maybe using it.

A lot of others claim it's to fast for that weight bullet.
Anyone have any experience with that or similar set up?
Without a chronograph to work with I'm kinda shooting in the dark.

Where in SE KY?

BE86 is decent.

I had much higher numbers with some other powders. Then again, I'm only loading 155-180 pills. And with 16" carbine length barrel so burn rate comes into consideration more in mine than it does in a 1911.

There is a forum who recently had to start all over again from scratch that has a lot of load data . https://www.10mm-firearms.com/forums/subject/factory-10mm-ammo-pull-downs/

BE-86 is a little bit too fast for 40sw - can't hit the velocities you can get with Longshot. So I wouldn't use it in 10mm if I wanted true 10mm performance.

Now if you want practice loads (155gr1200fps, 180gr1100fps, etc.) it will work fine.

I use BE-86 in 40sw to run 155gr1140fps for practice. I got a pound of it for $19.95 a while back. 7.2gr BE-86, CCI500, 155gr MBC lswc, COL=1.16".

Just picked up a Kimber Camp Guard 10, and am looking for load data as well. Heading to the big city today and will stop at a few places to see if I can find some Longshot or BlueDot.

Bass Pro currently has 100 piece bags of new Starline brass on sale for $22 and change, with my military discount and the extra 10 % off they offered Club members , it was far cheaper than I could buy it at Starline for! Plus, Starline is backordered at the moment.

Now to find some 180 and 200 gr Hard cast coated bullets for loading.

I've been shooting the Blue Bullets (coated) and some Brass Monkey (coated) in 180 and 200 with Longshot, and have been very impressed with the accuracy. Mine is a Springfield XDM elite with a Holosun Circle Donut reticle. A disk blade at 100 yd is fun. I have not pushed them to nuclear levels at all. Just about 1200 fps. I did try some BE-86, but have had better luck with Longshot. Silhouette is also a great powder along with Power Pistol, but I have much more of the Longshot.

Best,
Chris

Alliant data list a 190 grain jhp with BE 86 at almost 1200fps.
Hodgdon longshot list similar data with really high pressures.
I've tried longshot and accuracy is terrible.
My be 86 load gives phenomenal accuracy. I'm actually surprised when I walk to a 33yd target (That's our pistol range distance) and see 5 shots right at an 1.5 inches.
So I guess that's why I want to stick with the BE.
Just can't find published data or real world experience with 200 grain hard cast.
I'm not looking for set your pants on fire velocity but am thinking a 200 grain bullet in the 1,100 to 1,200 fps is real world 10mm velocities.

First of all, Alliant does not list pressure. Hodgdon does.10mm MAP is 37.5Kpsi - Hodgdon stops at 35Kpsi for a 5" barrel.
Not sure why you can't get an accurate load with Longshot. But the reason you can't find 200gr data with BE-86 is that BE-86 is too fast for that application.

Well, I was able to acquire four 1# cans of Longshot yesterday, and ordered 500 pcs of new Starline brass. Will get some cast bullets on the way as well.

1st of all I didn't say Alliant listed pressures. You are correct they don't.
But my question is if it's to fast for that application why do they list a 190 grain bullet with a load.
Alliant is not a treasure drove of load data like hodgdon.
So it's crossed my mind the one load they chose to list for the heaviest bullet they listed for a 10mm is be 86

I'm really interested to see how it works for you.
I'm not opposed to giving longshot another try just could not get good accuracy the 1st time around.

This is from an alliant representative.
Thank you for purchasing our BE-86(TM) Rbstuartjr. I'm sure you will be pleased with it, as it is a really versatile, charges well and delivers very good performance. I find it downloads well also, so have fun finding loads that you like.
I have had quite good luck in 45 Auto with a medium/light load of 5.6gr behind a 230gr hardball at 1.265" COAL. It shoots better in my Series 70 Colt than I am capable.
I also use it with a 185gr FMJSWC to duplicate the Federal Gold Medal load, but I don't recall the charge to obtain 775ft/sec (maybe 5.7gr?)
There are so many powders that are capable of shooting well in 45 Auto, and BE-86 is one. I like to refer to it as the "modern Unique" purpose built for pistol. We also have a shotshell version "modern Unique" in 20/28(TM). Those two are absolutely not the same propellants, so make no mistake there. They were each designed to better serve their applications in pistol and shotshell.
Shoot well,
Paul

This is with a 230 grain bullet

I have to agree with you here. Accurate no. 9 has been fairly easy to find as well.
