Anyone ever had bed bugs in the house, found one last night.. I had a friend that works for a pest control company stop by and look around , didn’t find any but he recommended a treatment ,,expensive to say the least. My house is spotless so that’s not a problem

Get yourself an ozone generator for about $100. Gas the house well (probably one area at a time), air it out, and repeat once per week for 3 weeks. Kills everything, removes smells.

Friend of ours is paranoid, and won’t book a hotel without checking here.

The only thing that kills the eggs are heat or freezing.

My neighbors complained about bed bugs. They think they got them from their two pets...

The point of repeating the treatment is to allow existing eggs to hatch but to kill the new generation before they can start producing eggs.

I had bed bugs over two years ago and have no idea how I got them. the money i paid to have it taken care of was well worth it. My place is as clean as can be and I was embarrassed to talk to the exterminator. He assured me that he would take care of everything and he did. He asked me if I had picked up any used furniture from friends or from beside a dumpster. Of course I hadnt done this. He told me most likely that i was at someones place that had them and one hitched a ride on my clothes. when he was finished they were completely gone, but for a couple of months after that I would see a small black speck on the wall or sink etc and I would look at it closely thinking i still had bed bugs. It did play with my mind a little.

Elderly neighbor lady had a houseful after
letting her career criminal grandkids stay
over for a few months after release.
Had to tape all the windows, etc. and put
some window unit looking gadget in the front
window with hoses running out to a couple
of big tanks in the front yard.

Not sure where the felons ended up.
The youngest is on something newer
and stronger every time he goes to "college".
They've had to narcan him twice that
I've witnessed.
Probably has lice too

Had the unfortunate experience of getting stuck at JFK when my plane landed too late for my connection. The airline put me up in a reasonable hotel but the next morning my back looked like someone had sprinkled pepper on me! Those bed bugs chewed me up. I got home and stripped down in the garage and immediately took a hot as I could possibly stand shower. I fumigated my luggage and everything else too. Must have worked as that was the end of that. It’s also the last time I have stayed in NYC and hopefully for forever.

Stop living in filth. LOL. Just kidding. Good luck getting rid of them. Never had them, myself, knock on wood.

PS Prior to us ceasing enforcement of our immigration laws vis a vis our southern border, bed bugs in the US had entered the realm of fairy tales. Most Americans used to think they were a fictional concept.

Bed bug eradication can be extremely difficult. They are very mobile and can “hitchhike “ to spread further. I would get a professional service with experience in treating for them. There are both good and bad companies out there.

I'm thankful I've never seen one.
I understand that public busses, movie theaters, etc are vectors for their distribution. I have read that a lot of outbreaks come via migrant workers from Mexico

Anyone ever try Diatomaceous Earth? As I understand it, after they walk through it it gets into their exoskeleton and kills them.
