That has been a common misconception over the years. I had MANY guys at the LGS ask for one of " Them Range Finding Scopes..you know...the ones with the front end you just dial to the yardage and hold dead on..."

Especially cool is how it gets you on target out to infinity.

Using Biden's data, I'll bet a 9mm could too.

Well, I called this flier. Something along the lines of "F'n Liberal!" 8 shots....

Talking about hunting and shooting black bears, an old guy says, his father shot and killed a 10 ft. POLAR BEAR, with a 38 snub nosed pistol, one shot! It was in there chicken coop! He grew up some where in Canada he said.

No, no. The way I heard it was that the bullet didn’t start dropping until way past 250 yards (as the explanation for a missed deer).

I had one guy come in with his .280. He explained that the bullet dropped at a normal rate out to 200 yards, whereupon it shot absolutely flat for the next 300 yards before it resumed its drop.....

When we were growing up we used to hear all kinds of stories about a guy down in Valdez who had a Pre-64 Model 70 264 Win with a bushnell scope. He killed all kinds of animals and would give general elements of stories that seemed mighty familar. Turns out he was re-hashing our stories and telling everybody that he was killing moose, bears, sheep and big caribou using our stories and even our pictures of trophies. He would claim that we were local kids that he took out hunting. He kind of lived with a six pack so we never said anything.

These are great. I wanted to reply to many of them, but that’s a lot of typing.

Step dad always said his 6mm, which I now have shot perfectly flat until about 150 yards before it started to rise any.

And that was generally pronounced LaPow! Which led to us starting to call it the very powerful French cartridge.

Not a tall tail but...

Back several years ago a friend thought Varget was a French powder and was actually supposed to be pronounced "Vargay". He made several comments about dumbasses around here calling it Varget. I let it go and just chuckled to myself everytime he would ask for a pound of Vargay at the counter. Finally one day I ask him if he thought maybe it was a combination of varmint and target. Funny was the look on his face when the light come on.

Just a few weeks ago a man was telling me about the deer he missed at 400 yards this year because the bullet was still rising.

Twenty some years ago a boy was telling me about the groundhog he shot a 400 yards with his .243. Seems he was sighted in at 100 yards and held dead on because the bullet hadn't began to fall yet. The same boy also estimated deer at around 300 yards (later checked with a range finder) behind our work at around 800 yards.

Guy in a town I lived in was shot in the buttocks when he and his son were crossing a fence. Obviously not in the safest manner. One of the cops who was questioning the guy at the hospital told the guy’s wife he was lucky it was a close range since the bullet hadn’t had a chance to reach its full velocity.

Guy at the gun counter expounding about his prowess as a bird hunter claimed he shot a 20 gauge because it didn’t hurt the dog none when he hit it with some shot on a low flying bird. I opined that he was 6-7 times the size of my Brittany and wondered if he’d stand at 40 yards and let me fire a 20 gauge at him. He seemed hesitant to participate in my experiment.

Bullets going too fast to expand.

Just held 6 inches high on an elk at 800 yards with a 30-06 and made a perfect one shot kill. When called on it he explained it was his brother’s special reloads.

One shot kill on an elk at 500 yards with an open sighted SKS.

How come no one ever kills an elk at 537 yards or 669 yards? It’s alway exactly 500, 600 or 1000 yards.

The 375 H&H ain’t no good for moose. My son shot one with his and it run off. Never even bled. And it was a perfect heart lung shot. I tell ya that damn 375 ain’t no damn good.

Me and my brother we regularly shoot our deer in the head at a thouuuuuusand yards. I suppose he drew out thousand to make us enthralled listeners understand a thousand yards is a real fur piece.

I was out checking beaver traps and ran into a steel header near one of my sets. He was surprised to see me pull a big beaver up from a drowner. He came over to visit and remarked, “Good for you. Kill all those beaver. They’re eating all our steelhead.”
