Home Forums Lever Action Central .405 Winchester Aficionados 405 TD with a Red bead Lyman?

I have a Win 1895 TD in 405 that was made in 1926. I believe it to be all original. But it has a Lyman red bead front sight. Could that be original or aftermarket? And I did fire her 3 times. I dont ever want to shoot it again. That metal crescent butt gave me one hellava black and blue mark!!! I could send a picture of the rifle if anyone wants to see it. Any Idea how many TD 405s were made? Ive seen a few standards. TY

Doubtful it was a red bead unless someone painted it. Below are some that were available from Winchester. I've read the Sporting Front was common. My similar vintage 1895 had a brass bead (missing the bead) and I replaced it with a Redfield Sourdough, not original but easy for my eyes.
