yesterday morning I picked up on the pretty cheap end and unfired in the box xt-22 Magnum (225)as well as a stainless synthetic 10/22 used but with the box and all (150).

I already have two other 22 mag Marlins. one has a 3-9x40 elite 3200
the other has a old school Japanese tasco 4X

well this one I was thinking about one of the Hawke vantage with the 22 mag reticle.
I already have the same basic scope on a Bergara BMR with the 22 subsonic reticle. I love it on that setup

that's why my first thought was getting one of them for the 22 mag accordingly. but then I'm also thinking of one of the new LH series Arkens .. both are similar price range.

I'm just kind of wondering if I've left out another obvious choice...

what does the optics form say..

Vortex 2-7. It's a bit long but the 2-7 makes for a great scope. I'm almost tempted to buy one and put it on a .223.

My CZ 457 wears a Leupold VX1 3-9X.
because I had it laying around.
Works well enough for a hunter I'll just leave it.

I like the leupold vx freedom. It’s a decent price and the optics are great.

My 455 wears a Burris 4X 1.5-6x40 it is my go-to predator calling rig where I need quiet, cheaper than a can on the 223.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I have a Weaver V9 on mine in steel Leupold rimfire rings. It rides around in the truck under the back seat all winter. I can't even remember the last time I had to rezero. When I check it it is on. It doesn't have the best glass but it is usable and has been rock solid for more than 20 years.

As I age I am partial to higher magnifications. The size and distance of most of my targets are squirrels and crows 80-90 yards away. My CZ is equipped with a Weaver 4-16.

I have one in its way, excited to see how it performs. Not a lot of solid review info online, compared to say VX1 2-7x28 Rimfire. Both short parallax distances. I’ll report back.

Big fan of 2-7 on 22LR
Magnum I might step up to little more zoom for fun.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Just replaced the Bushnell 4500 1-4 on my AR .22 Mag with a recently-liberated Trijicon Credo HX 1-6. No real difference at 50 yards, but expect it to make hits at 100 and beyond a bit easier, plus it’s illuminated for times when that’s useful. Pretty sure it’s gonna stay put now.

Scope cost twice what the build did, but was already paid for, so WTF?

I have NF 3-10x42 SHV's on a boat-paddle Ruger 77/22Mag and a Magnum Research semi-auto 22mag. Both the older non-ilium models with side parallax adjustments.

I have a 3-9 Leupold EFR on my Anschutz .22 WMR for about 20 years now. It's the 3rd or 4th scope I've had on it in the 60 years I've had the rifle and it's going to stay.

I’ve been using the Burris Droptine 3-9’s on a few rimfires lately and have been quite happy with them for the $129 I paid for each scope. They rimfire version also has a 50 yard parallax.

I've got a Leupold 6x AO compact that would make a perfect match for a 22Mag. Excellent condition and a safe queen. I'd let it go if interested.

Many years ago I owned a tube fed Marlin 22 Mag and I put a Weaver K4 on it. I made a lot of money killing coyotes and selling their hides with that little rifle. It was my favored rifle to use around ranches buildings and farms.

Sometime later I got a SAKO 222 Remand replaces the 22 WMR because I could buy 50 grain Winchester .224 bullet from Black Hills for $24.95 per thousand (if my memory is accurate) and H322 powder was plentiful and not expensive, and primers were under $1 per hundred. The 222 was more accurate 1200 FPS faster and handloaded, cost less per round to fire. So I sold the 22 mag.

But when I was shooting hides for money, the 22 WMR was a very useful tool, and the K4 made shots from 100 to 200 yards a lot easier, especially in dim light.

My Cooper custom classic wears a Leopold VariXIII 2.5X8. It not only looks great on the rifle but performs well in the squirrel woods.
