Hi all, if this has been discussed before, I apologize. I was wondering if anyone here has one of the Wyoming Weatherby mk v's? I got one recently and like it quite well. I've owned several mk v's in the past, but all purchased 2nd hand. They were all reliable and accurate, just curious as to your experiences with the new ones. I love their move to Wyoming btw. Thanks all

Best rifles they've ever made imo. 240 deluxe an a 6.5x300 accumark. Both half inch rifles and fit and finish are superb.

Glad to hear it, that was my finding as well after handling several of them. Ive owned german, japan and u.s. made and feel like the new ones are as good as any of them. I appreciate the feed back, the 2 you own sound like fun ones! 240's are a hoot!

Oh, and my name and thread probably seems redundant, but I tried a number of names and all were taken. I had my rifle out cleaning the bore and thought try a few based on it, first one took! Lol

I'd like to have a deluxe in 270 wby. That would be a fun one!

I agree, 270 wby is a terrific one for sure. I gave my german deluxe in 300 to my son. Its his pride and joy. Probably time to replace the original recoil pad, 60 years old, its almost as hard as a Ruger Hawkeye's 🤣🍻

Had, should have never got rid of, an Atascadero made 06 ulw. Shot great. Killed many good bucks with that rifle, but I thnk the Sheridan guns were a step ahead.

Gotcha, were they the grey stock looking similar to the accumark, or the tan stock with all blued fluted barrel? Ulw are very nice rifles. I had an alaskan in 300 wby beat to h.ll I bought used. Tack driver, shouldnt have sold that one either. Why do we do it? Lol

Nice, that would have been a 6 lug, so actually was lightweight.

I’m looking real hard at the 6.5 RPM. Looks like a great caliber and would be good for whitetail and elk.

The new accumark 6.5 rpms are actually not that heavy. Handles one the other day and pretty impressed.

Always thought those University of Wyoming versions were sharp

I sold my Kimber 84L 280AckImp to make the funds so that I could buy my first Weatherby.

Though it's not a Weatherby namesake cartridge I purchased a Mark V Hunter in a 280 Ackley Improved in August of 2023. Immediately I was impressed with the fit, finish of the cerakote on the metal, the bolt throw, and the flawless matching of the thread protector with the barrel contour. Then I was pleased with the accuracy I was getting with a 140gr Accubond load I developed.

In October I got a call from Jacob at Weatherby and they were doing a voluntary recall on the action and they wanted me to send it back. It was right at the start of hunting season so I was hesitant but I sent it back to them with their pre paid label. I emailed back to Jacob that if they could send me a sticker to put on my gun safe that would be great. About a week later I got a FedEx package with 4 decals, a 75th anniversary Weatherby history book, and 2 boxes of Weatherby factory 280AckImp loads with 140gr Hammer bullets. About a week later I got my rifle back, mounted my scope, and sighted it back in. I was able to kill 2 deer with that rifle during the season and 1 of which was lazered at 395yds.

To say I'm pleased is an understatement.

Wow, you can't beat that for either the rifle, or customer service. The 2 boxes of ammo was a nice little perk, very cool. My barrel is not quite broke in yet, but shooting at about an inch even with cleaning and screwing around. Once barrel is broken in and seasoned with some fouling shots, I think it will be a shooter. 280 ackley is a great round. I had a nosler 48 and a montana in that cartridge. And, yours is a 6 lug, a pound lighter than mine, its a 300 wby. I took a buck at 438 yards with my montana and a 160 partition, one and done. Id post pics but too dumb to add them to my posts, but did put a couple up in the images section, firgot the official name. New guys s_ck, lol

Weatherby is certainly doing great things. I've yet to have one that didn't shoot their factory ammo very very tight. That accumark in 6.5x300 shoots their gold box 156 elite hunters in a rag hole at 100. I've killed several deer out to 600 yards with it.

Ive thought that too. Maybe go all out, install h.d. iron sites, detach rings, 2.5x8 leupy and have kind of a do it all guide gun type set up. For alaska general hunting, that would be an awesome rig.
