Have a marlin 1936 that is drilled and tapped for a scope
. Otherwise the condition is about 80percent with some good case color remaining. It’s chambered in 30-30 anyone have an approximate guess on the value?

My WAG would be around $700 plus or minus. D&T hurts collector interest. The last two sold on Gunbroker went for $1100 & $1300 but were untapped first variation models. 1936's seem to be somewhat of a conundrum, I've kept an eye on them since acquiring a SC model in .32 Spl some years back. People seem willing to pay more for a common 336 these days than the much lower production 1936 or 36.

I agree with tmitch. They are sort of the redheaded stepchild of the Marlin lineup.

I was hoping to trade it for a Cadillac, looks like she’s gonna do some deer hunting instead. Anyone know which weaver base has the .504 spacing and would work on a flat service? The top of the receiver Is flat.

You can probably use bases made for the 336 Marin. I pulled this picture from another website as to hole spacing on a factory D&T 336.

I measured it. I think that’ll work. Thanks for posting that. My local gunsmith had this thing in his hand a few days ago. I mentioned the 336 base idea to him and he told me that it wouldn’t work, lol. I guess I’ll take what he says with a few grains of salt from now on.

I prefer separate bases front and back, or two piece bases. Warne has a set and I use the extended front. I have found in 336's it is important and somewhat difficult to get the scope as low as possible because the comb of the stock is designed for iron sights. If you use the Warne bases, which are lower than the common weavers and Nikons along with low Burris Zee rings I think you will find a wonderful combination for your rifle.
Take care, and Good Luck!

Precision Gunstocks offer them. Also Treebone Carving makes them however they say 336 stocks work for some. Ebay is another place to check for originals.

Hardly a timely reply here! But talking less "make it work" than the original question of "value".

The Marlin Model 1936 & postwar model 36, were of an earlier design than the Model 336. Strength/safety/practical features; all outdated. The virtues in these models is in "originality/collectability. As not, if possessing a non-original one in good condition and shooting factory loads or lesser; go for it! BUT... As modern shooting rifle, I don't buy into a "semi-collector" precept and some sort of price accordingly. Like a "little bit pregnant", you have compromises of both worlds "shooter/hunter and collector. Already owning, as said one matter, valuing up into the ranges suggested, is value "not there." Because some folks buy into such, doesn't make value!
Just my take!
Belated best! smile
