I hope you have passed it before you get the chance to read this. I've had dozens, about 6 right now which are dormant and not causing any problems. Pain meds if you have them and then patience. Sorry I can't help more,
Rick

Had my first this past summer --- not comfortable in the least. T4's were my best friend for about a week. Hope never to get another one.

I did find that apple cider vinegar supplements helped relieve some of the discomfort. Reading this works for a few folks but not all.

I had one about 20 years ago and spent 3 days in the hospital. The initial attack put me right down on the floor, right now, and in the fetal position. Worst pain ever to the point that I feel sympathy pain just reading the OP.

I'm getting one busted up next Thursday. Found it last year while doing kidney tumor scans. Doc said let's get rid of the tumor, wait a year, then we will bust the stone.

I only had 6 a years ago.

Only found out because i was pissing blood.

CT scan showed them and one looked huge.

Got to the urology Doc and got to see the inside of my bladder and other fun pieces i never knew i would see.

Passed most in 6 months or so and only had a burning feeling a few times.

Passed more blood but he said it was because the stone/stones were moving.

Some were in the thunder mug but most were passed in the shower with hot water running and squatting down.

It was easy for me.He still thinks i an lucky but really it didn't hurt.

Woman overheard me talking to a buddy about kidney stones.
Said she had experienced childbirth AND kidney stones!
Vowed as how she would take childbirth again any day!
I've had kidney stones 3 or 4 times, gout in my right ankle once, two hip surgeries, on shoukder surgery and eight broken bones (not all at once!)!
I'll redo any of it again over those cursed kidney stones!
Last bout with stones, I laid on a couch 3 days, eating hydrocodone and Lortab like they were M&M's!!!! Bombed out of my mind and in constant pain!!! ....and not just "Ouchie!" pain!
I'm talking "Wishing I could die and afraid I can't!" pain!

Had my first one this month. Lithotripsy was used to break it up since it was an 11 mm stone. Stent was installed to aid passage of the pieces. After a week, still had three pieces remaining. Two in the kidney (5mm and 7 mm) with one 7 mm stuck beside the stent. Went in yesterday for out patient procedure where a laser was used to break up the remaining pieces with another stent installed. Should have the stent removed next week. When I was in the ER on my initial issue, the Dr asked about my pain lever from 1-10. I asked him to come closer. He asked why? I responded that I would grab him by his balls and squeeze until his voice sounded like he had achieved my pain level. He placed me on morphine and diuladid IV immediately. Funny thing is he never got closer that 5’ from that point on.

All the rubble flushed into my ureter at once and clogged it creating a "stone strasse" (stone street) or some damned thing. That's when the pain hit. I characterize it like this:

Imagine having a rusty, jagged, red-hot machette pushed through you then having it slowly saw down toward your groin, while simultaneously getting kicked in the balls with every beat of your heart.

I was unaware just how far I could vomit until that hit. Hint: along damned way.

I got flomax and pain meds. It took exactly 30 days for it to pass. The day all that [bleep] dropped into my bladdewr, I was sitting on couch. Suddenly, it felt like someone jammed a lit sparkler into the tip of my dick. It hurt fort about 10 seconds. Then I had to piss something fierce. I grabbed my strainer and it sounded like I was dropping gravel into it.

My largest fragment was 5mm. I had multiple 4mm fragments, many more 3mm fragments, and a ton of sand.

And the stones aren't smooth. They are jagged as hell. And they really are stone.

During my initial hospital visit, my nurse told me she passed a 7mm stone, and it hurt worse than giving birth to a 7.5lb baby with no drugs.

I ruptured my L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs and got severe sciatica as a result. Had to have surgery. Thought that was the worse pain I could ever have. Tunred out, that was a walk in the park compared to the kidney stone.

So, cheers to all the fellow Kidney Stone Survivors out there.

Unreal, that sounds horrible!

Had them twice. One time they passed naturally. Second time they busted it up with ultra sound. Docs said the second one was 8mm on xray. Hope to never have them again

Everyone I know who got kidney stone was dehydrated. If you don't pee normally while your doing hard work and sweating you will eventually have kidney stones.

Enjoying my first one now. Went to Urgent Care because it's close. First Doc took a urine sample to check for blood then said take some Ibuprofen and we'll do a CT scan next week and kicked me out the door. One night of that and I was back for better drugs. That Doc gave me Tylenol 3. no good! Next day I went to the Hospital ER and got blood labs, kidney workup, tested for infection and Vicoden, oh yeah! Much better! However Vicoden causes constipation so take it with a fiber supplement.

No experience here, but a buddy had an attack, fortunately a day after we completed an extended river run. Seems he was taking about 2 lbs of mineral supplements every morning, and the doc told him to knock that off.

They really don't know, but won't say exactly.
My mother always said it was from drinking
cold drinks a lot, but that's not right. I've known
a couple of people that have never partaken of
cold drinks or tea or coffee.

I've been "lucky" and only had the one, but
it was a boone and crockett and had to be
busted up to pass it out in little razor sharp
pieces. Looked like a big cockleburr inside
my kidney. Can't even find the words for the
level of pain experienced. I've broken bones
that didn't hurt as bad. Before I knew what was
wrong, I had a spell and had to go to the floor
and had the black and white tunnel vision
you get just before you pass out. I managed
to crawl over to the phone and only got "9""
pressed of the 911 before it instantly and
completely went away. I guess if I were to
give a comparison I'd say to watch the original
Hellraiser movie where the monsters are
embedding the large fish hooks on chains
into the guy's flesh before commencing to
torture him

Good Luck with trying to pass any shards.
Get sat down or securely propped up or
have somebody hold you up so your knees
don't buckle and you end up hitting your
head as you fall or breaking a bone, etc.

Had one about 30 years ago and luckily passed it the next day. Couldn't believe something that small caused so much pain. My urologist told me I had about 50% chance of getting another if I didn't change a thing, but if I watched my diet, etc. my chances would be about 1 in 2.

Good luck, sir, and good pain killers as well.
