Howdy, all!
A shooting buddy who has no interest in shotguns gave me his grandmother's Hunter Arms 16 ga. SxS 16 ga. As near as I can tell, it has 65 mm (2 9/16") chambers. I just got two flats of British 2.5" ammo, 1 oz. 7.5" (u.s. size) shot.
I'm hoping this forum helps me, I've loaded 20ga., many years ago, looking forward to current stuff!

Well, I got a chamber and choke gauge. It confirms short chambers; one shows as roughly 2 9/16, the other as 2 5/8. Chokes show as full and extra full. I'll have to check them on paper.
Question: what do you all think of the idea of re-chambering to 2 3/4"? I know I'll check with a gunsmith first, but I don't mind some input.

I have a lc Smith field grade 16 with 2 9/16" chambers. Not a big deal to cut down the hulls and put a tyvek patch over the shot to cover the center hole. Might also check into a mec 600 Jr with a short kit..mb

I like the 58 although never had one in 16ga. Recently sold a model 11 16ga and a White lightning 16 ga. I have a Browning 525 in 20 and would like a 16 and 28 to match. Although I prefer a smaller frame its hard to beat the durability of the Citori.

Back about 2017, I walked into a run down chain pawn shop. Sitting on the back of the shotgun shelf was an old Rem semi auto. Turned out, it was a Rem "Sportsman" 16 gauge. Took a little dealing, but I got it for a good price.
Remington began making the 16 gauge "Sportsman" in 1932. They started with SN 200000. The SN on this gun shows it to be one of the first 500 made. Unfortunately, the barrel SN didn't match the receiver SN. Further markings on the barrel showed it was purchased from the Rem "specialty store". Bummer! SOOO..... since the SN's didn't match up, I sent the barrel to Briley in Houston and had it threaded for flush mounted tubes. It is now my "go-to, all purpose" shotgun.

My Dad’s pride and joy was a Belgium Browning Sweet Sixteen he bought from his fishing buddyMack McAtee for $100. He helped a bud out of a tight spot and got his shotgun of a lifetime. He offered to sell it back to him but Mack knew that the Sixteenth meant more to my Dad than himself. That’s how buds run. I use to collect Winchester 37s, they were cheap and it was my first shotgun I ever bought for myself. Picked up one in 16 gauge and the youngest boy liked it so well for squirrel hunting that he claimed it. Used it on up till his 16th Birthday and I got him a Dan LeFever double in sixteenth grade. He read Robert Ruark’s “The Old Man and the Boy till it was dogearred and I surprised him just like the boy in the book. The sixteen is a well balanced load and most shotguns are trim. Most of the classic English doubles are sixteen gauge for a reason.
