I have one of these with the original butt plate rather than a pad that I use to hunt deer in PA. It's topped with a Leupold V-III 2.5-8x scope.

I think these to be the handsomest rifles Remington ever produced on a regular production basis. The checkering on them is the best I've ever seen on a factory production rifle. It took me years to find one and I way overpaid, but it's one of the very last ones I'd let go.

It took me years to find one in a 280 before I found this one. I then bought one in a 30-06 that didn't have a pad to take the stock off and put on the 280. After shooting the 30-06 with no pad I decided I liked the pad a whole lot better off the bench so I never did swap them.

Yep, and one of those 2,784 is mine. Had it since 1961. A great hunting rifle and my usual "go to" rifle although I have and have had a number of different rifles over the years in various calibers. . I've killed elk, Mule deer, antelope, and Black bear with mine. A 3/4" rifle with several different loads. Your stock is a bit more pristine than mine. wink

A very handsome Remington 725 .280 you have!

It seems that the general consensus is that these things are shooters!
