Maurice Decker agreed with your assement of the Sporting Carbine.

Decker mentioned the rifle in the October 1924 issue of the Fur News and gave a description of the rifle and his reasons for thinking it was the best rifle for the woods cruiser and backpacking hunter in the December issue.
There were changes through the years but the basic rifle is still there.

That’s a nice configuration for a hunting rifle. Not a big fan of the typical full-length magazine with barrel band.
