My son's Springfield 1911 A-1 evidently got some sort of chemical on it, and it's become rusted in several places, internal and external. It needs to be taken apart and completely refinished.
I can't find anyone local to do the job. I believe a finish other than just rust blue would be the ticket. Maybe hard chromed?
Who do y'all recommend I contact?

Are looking to Ghetto bling it,
or get an acceptable finish that is servicable?
I'd consider nitriding.
That is a good quality, but not real high value or collectable gun.
Nitride could be an improvement in looks, and function from OEM.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Mahofsky's does a good job and I had Fords refinish an H&K P7 that turned out great. They are in Crystal River, FL if that's anywhere close to you
