I had to think back a long ways. I remember something weird about that. I think it got started before the depression when some scientist was comparing the iron levels in foods. When he got to spinach, he misplaced a decimal to show it with 10x the correct amount. The Popeye cartoonist used that to call spinach a super food for strength. This was during the depression. By the time the mistake was discovered, it was too late. Everyone thought spinach was something special.
