Don't know jack about scatter gunning beyond buckshot and #6 squirrel loads. My son drug in an old ammo can full of old corroded ammo he scarfed up somewhere and I'm pulling the rifle bullets and reclaiming the lead cores for casting. Maybe 20 or 25 of these 12 gauge shells were mixed into the whole mess and they all seem in good enough shape to shoot. I Google searched this image and got nothing. That is a light field load with one ounce of #4 shot. Should wreak havoc on a squirrel or a rabbit. The relatively large shot with the limited payload might give a spotty pattern at longer ranges.

That is a 3 dram powder equivalent, 1 ounce of #4 shot low brass field load.

3 dram eq- 1 ounce of # 4 shot. Great loads for bunny and squirrels. Less meat damage than 1 1/4 ounce loads. Not a good turkey load.

When I was a kid they sold big time just before pheasant opener mostly # 6 shot but ww also offered them in 4's less than $2 a box. Can't even count the number of times I heard people argue about their ability to get done. The bad old good days..mb

That is a late 60’s early 70’s low end Winchester load. The more expensive Super X shell used a compression formed AA type hull. The Mark 5 was a plastic shot collar, before one piece wads with an integral shot cup were used.

I grew up around Rifleman. Small game was killed with a .22.
