I' d allways shot mk2 rugers and liked them still do for the money.. like HS autos alot but obtaining mags that work well and reliable is problematic. One day I got a heck of a deal on a 41 with 6 factory mags. It seems like a major enlightenment. Just the tits.mb

I did end up with two.

I have one listed for sale here, for $50 less than I have in it.

Sold a 41 long ago. Shot well. But folks would not believe what can …and has been done with a Ruger 5.5

The Browning with the trigger spring flip is also another great option. Many choices that will put a smile on folks faces including old HS and Colts.

When I first started shooting handguns a lot a 41 was very hard to find & crazy money. I bought a Hi Standard. Great sights, trigger & accuracy. But as has been said, damn picky about function & finding suitable mags wasn't easy. I bought a MkII. Threw a couple hundred bucks at it trying to make it better, meh.

Fond memories of the HS had me buying another only to be reminded of same problems as the first. Well bye, again.

Finally bought a 41.................the end.

A perfect example of cry once.

So is the 41 out the box Good to go or now with HV ammo? Or ltd to just Std vel ?

No doubt Rugers need trigger work to get the potential, but I found myself shooting both quite similar with hunting ammo. I would assume say CCI SV will group tighter in a 41, and should cycle. Anyone run Hi Vel in the stock 41 ?

Thanks.

I just traded for a M41. Looks beautiful, grip is excellent, balance is hard to believe - have not shot it yet. Hoping it will shoot Fed AutoMatch ok. I have a bunch of it....

I run CCI SV in mine. It is reliable and accurate with this ammo. You shouldn’t shoot high velocity ammo in these guns. .

Smart purchase. Nill makes anatomical grips which offer lots of contact and support. The trigger is fine for bullseye. Classic looks and another reason to not buy the latest offerings in a semi auto 22 S&W. Extra barrels are affordable way to modify your game. Congrats. To get much better, you’d be looking at a Pardini SP22 or AW93
