From today's Wall Street Journal:

A New York jury on Friday ordered the National Rifle Association’s former longtime leader Wayne LaPierre to pay more than $4.3 million back to the gun-rights group for misspending its charitable funds.

A six-person jury in Manhattan deliberated for five days before finding the NRA, LaPierre and two other executives liable for violating state charity laws.

Good, the real intent of the law suit was to abolish the NRA. Hopefully this sends a message to the rest of the clowns running that organization its not their private piggy bank.

Good that WLP has to pay restitution. Now, hopefully, the Board got the message to get its poop together, reorganize, reform and rebuild the NRA.

Good! I let my membership lapse when the story broke about him using member funds to buy $250k worth of clothes and they did nothing about it! It’s way past time this grifter is shown the way out. He seemed to do some good early on but it quickly became all about the money. Maybe the NRA can finally get back to it’s stated mission.

I recently read that WLP got a $17 million severance package. Is that possible?

If WLP is worth $20M, then this $4M is like the % hit his portfolio took from covid.

In this stupid world of course its possible. Out here in Oregon I use to bank at Washington Mutual.

They hired this guy to take charge of the Bank, and six weeks later it folded.
however in his contract. he had a clause that said if he was asked to leave or the bank folded, that he got a severance package that was worth about 120 million.

Can't recall if it went to court, but he got his 120 million.. or some ridiculous figure like that.

Sorry, I have NO LOVE for Wayne LaPierre, but I have even less use for NY Courts and the stupid sums they come up with as fines. So I hope that big demands get thrown out...

States like NY which is ran by DemocRATS are constantly running big "FINES" on people, companies etc. Who does that money go to? THEM. Screw them on all of these damn FINES BS. The government, especially leftists, are always trying to milk the world out of money, for their cash cow expenses.... You have one crook robbing another crook. So his name in English would be Wayne The Peter.... or Wayne the Dick for short. At least his last name was correctly applied in his case... he certainly is a pompous DICK.!

He ought to have to pay individually back ever donation he swindled by sending out an appeal letter asking for donations above the monthly promise.

I’ve always been of the opinion that the “CEO” of any nonprofit should have a salary cap, an across the board salary cap! Susan G Komen…Red Cross, United Way, Moveon.org, NRA….every one of them should be limited in their ability to steal from the charitable giving of their donors!
