I take a lot of kids out. Any semi 20ga works great. A youth stock helps tremendously. You can let them shoot light 2 3/4 loads to give them confidence. Slip a 3” or 3” tss load in while hunting and they never feel a thing. A red dot also helps.

Stevens 301 Compact. Great little gun

It’s light so recoil is pretty stout. If I was setting it up for a kid I’d try a real tight choke and a 1oz TSS waterfowl load.

I just bought an escort ps 20 gauge for my youngest (8 years old). 22" barrel threaded for rem chokes, short LOP with spacers you can add later, receiver is milled for a red dot or scope if you have that need on a shotgun, magazine cut off. Fit and finish is pretty good, will shoot it this weekend.

Bought this one 3 years back for my 8 year old. He has duck hunted, deer hunted, squirrel hunted and shot countless pheasants at tower shoots. Gun is exceptional for the money. Its a perfect starter gun. It does get dirty and not like low brass when dirty but is easy enough to strip and clean and get running again. Has never failed to cycle a 3" load dirty or not.

$282.49 wholesale hunter as we speak

I had the Escort marked from last year, but couldn't find one in stock. I think with this feedback, I'm going this route. Thanks guys.
