There are enough other good materials to remover carbon.

There will surely be some level of surface etching, whether you can see it or not; how long it might take with relatively short duration of exposure to do any damage is hard to say, but I'm not about ti find out either.

Obviously, it will attack non-stainless faster than SS.

Left exposed long enough, it will also attack chrome.

Keith's excellent video is spot on. 👌 A local shooter at the range I belong to recently showed me a Defiance bolt etched from his use of CLR.

There's z-e-r-o reason to use a product like this with so many known good and safe products are available.

I totally etched a stainless tuner/brake combination using CLR (I wish I knew how to post pictures). No way that stuff is ever going in any of my barrels.
