Friend has a Winchester 90 pump 22short take down rimfire rifle he asked me to help sell. Seems like values are all over the place and I am not super familiar with these gun.
Gun is in good condition, bluing in good shape except for a few warm areas, functions well, and wood doesn’t have Chips/cracks. Serial number 390XXX. Any one familiar with these 22 rifles and rough range of value on it?

I paid 275 for one about 5 years ago, typical patina, no cracks or bad scratches in wood. Rifling left, definitely check for that....these things were shot a lot! Mine is a 1905. I wouldn't sell it for any less than 800.

Several pictures of both sides, the bottom, and the top of the full length of the rifle, along with closeups of the most worn spots and closeups of any factory stamps would really be a baseline for giving a proper estimate.
I’ll pm you my cell and he/you can forward pics to it if you’d like. I’ll be able to give you a “what’s it worth”, a “what range you should expect to get depending on patience and effort” and a “”sell it now” figure on it.
It’s not uncommon for the notes to be like a sewer pipe on these, for barrels to be replacements, and for the front and rear half of the rifle to not match (serial numbers). Sights may be swapped, etc., etc..

Seems like values are all over the place... Very true. Looking at closed auction prices will give you a good idea. Many of these were used as gallery guns and the bores are ruined which of course affects value. I see the 22 shorts is "decent" condition sell for $400 to $500 normally. Nice ones in original condition with excellent bores can bring several hundred dollars more.
