I have a Cooper M57M Custom Classic in 17 HMR. When I put 4 rounds in the clip the top round sticks up at an angle and won't feed into the chamber. If I only put 3 rounds in the magazine it functions flawlessly. It will not feed ammo into the chamber when I use a 22 Mag clip either. I believe this to be an issue with the magazine not the rifle. I have sent the 17 HMR magazine to Night Hawk Custom for repair.
Has anyone else had magazine issues with Cooper? What is a good source for an additional magazine? Night Hawk Custom doesn't have them.

An Anschutz 22 mag/17 HMR mag should work.

Thanks I wouldn't have thought of an Anschutz magazine for a Cooper rifle.

I've been told they're the exact same magazine, just a different floorplate. I know mine look identical.

The weak link to a Cooper rifle is the magazine and how well it will function. I have 2 mags with my 57M 17 HMR, 2 work fine, the third works if I push up on the bottom of the magazine when I work the bolt and it will feed..

There seem to be two model numbers for the Anschutz magazine. Does it make a difference as to which one you use for the Cooper M57M?

I sent my magazine to Cooper (Night Hawk Custom) and explained the problem. I spoke to Glen May and he was very helpful. At the end of the day he said the magazine was fine and the problem was a feeding issue with the rifle and if I wanted to send it to him he would undoubtedly be able to fix the issue. I declined the offer as I don't like shipping guns and have a smith locally who is very good. Glen did send an additional magazine at no charge which I greatly appreciated. I must say the customer service was excellent. I have the same issue with the new magazine that Shrapnel experienced as I have to push up on the magazine with the bolt open to feed the first round then all is good.
I'm going to try the Anschutz magazine and hopefully it will function fine. Worst case scenario is I have an extra magazine for the 22 Mag.
