That are always posting pics of their trips..

IMO, best threads on the fire.

I’ll share mine of my attempt to make Mt Leconte in SMNP.

Beautiful to say the least.

I intended to go up alum cave way, but Hwy 441 has been closed.

So went up Rainbow falls.

That distance must be as the crow flies… 😂😂

Farther up the was ice.

Black ice…

I busted my butt a couple times.

I chickened out the last little bit to mt leconte. I had past the .6m to leconte sign. Don’t know how close i was.

Ice was bad and i was by myself…

I had intended to make the rainbow
Falls / bullhead loop.

Signs at the top warned of trial damage / downed trees on Bullhead. So i back tracked.

Just curious, is that a slab of rock crossing the creek?

Yes. That was a slab of rock.

Another one was a hewn ( chainsaw) log.

Wiki says mt leconte is ~6593 ft.

For fish, not sure in that area. Some flavor of Trout?

Though i did see signs going to cades cove about small mouth.

A MS dude in TN?

Thanks for those pic Dave. Beats the hell out of the "news" folks post all the time.

One of these years I need to get back that way. There's some relatives over in NC east of there.

Enjoy the rest of your travels.

Geno,

Doing the tourist thing. 😂

I know. Some boomer will say Gatlinburg isn’t the same as it was 40 yrs ago.

Back when “me and Imogene ate at the Pancake Cabin for $2.95”.

What part of NC? Cherokee?

Kind of near the liberal metro area of Asheville but not in it. I think one works up near there though.

Furtherest Ive been is into Cherokee via the Newfoundland Gap road ( hwy 441)

Reminded me alot of Philadelphia / Choctaw MS.

I did enjoy the Cherokee Heritage Museum.
