Twin Falls, ID: This guy was driving 75 in a 35 through a residential area, rear ended a pickup stopped at a red light, pushing it out into heavy traffic where it was hit by several other cars. The pickup driver's wife died and 7 others were injured. This guy indicated that it was on purpose and he was charged with 1st degree murder. His lawyer plead it down to 2d degree murder and 7 counts of aggravated assault. That was in 2019. Here we are in 2024 and it's still floating around in the courts. He just had another hearing where he wanted to withdraw the guilty plea, saying it was a medical problem. He's afraid that a stack of guilty pleas will send him up for life (that would be a good idea). The judge won't let him out of his plea. But, here we are, 5 years later, with a guilty plea, and he still hasn't been sentenced. I'm not a lawyer and I don't understand the court system. This just seems absurd to me.

On the outside, he's a "target of opportunity". If he's inside, he's subject to a good sized donation to a lifer's commissary account. Problem solved, either way.

I'm pretty sure he's in jail but it would be the county jail. He can't be moved to the state pen until he's sentenced.

Lawyers make a lot of money playing these games. Judges are complicit and willing participants IMO.

Nah, might as it should be, but it won't happen. But in reality, nothing works quite as well as an object lesson. Should apply to pole-cat-ticions too. MM

What is his name? Sounds like it has been appealed up to the state Supreme Court.

Why? Because it hasn't been milked for every possible nickel by the system yet.

RiverRider: You are absolutely right on! The present day "judicial system" is a self perpetuating, circle jerk of free money for lawyers, judges, counselors, public defenders and a horde of other court employees. It is a never ending, self rewarding system, for liars, I meant lawyers! It was by far the most sickening and horrific part of my 29 year long law enforcement career. The monstrous and unnecessary monetary waste that is BUILT IN, and never ending, within the judicial system is simply mind boggling to those of us privy to it. Sad and pathetic (no offense meant scumload!). Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
