At anytime .45’s were run through the armory, were adjustable rear sights ever added?

That would have been a very unusual circumstance, if it ever occurred.

Not likely through the armory, but after leaving the military often did

When I was on the Oklahoma National Guard pistol team, we had 1911s with adjustable sights. They were NOT duty guns. I never saw one like that on active duty, although the guys at Delta had them.

Were'nt those the old bullseye guns? Think those mods were pretty popular in the 50s and 60s.

My unit has lots of 1911's modified for the pistol team. Don't have a team anymore so they are just locked up in the armory.

Yes. Accurate but touchy on feeding and impossible to holster.

Military 1911's were only given adjustable sights for match guns. One exception I know of, a number of JSOC 1911's did get some Bo-Mar adjustable sights...But that's a few dozen, not thousands; so should be considered an anomaly.
