Savage model 16, 358 Winchester
McGowen Precision stainless barrel chambered in .358 Winchester, 1:12 twist, 22″, 0.635″ at muzzle
Modified walnut stock from a Model 14 youth/compact, glass bedded
0.6″ Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, 12.75″ LOP
Currently set up with a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8×36 (duplex) in Talley lightweights
Normal hunting wear–McGowen’s matte finish shows a lot of rub marks
Weighs ~7.95 lbs as currently set up.

Happy to share load data with buyer (shot very well with Sierra 225 grain Game Kings and Barnes 200 grain TTSX)
I also have 50 rounds of brass formed from Lake City LR 7.62x51, 3 full boxes of new old stock Winchester brass, and an unopened box of Barnes 200 grain TTSX that could be made available to the buyer (not for sale until rifle sells).

Prices are before actual shipping. Happy to meet within about an hour of Missoula.

$700 rifle only
$725 rifle and rings
$1025 rifle, rings, and scope

Nice setup. Does this have a drop plate or does it have a detachable magazine?

I had the barrel installed by a local gunsmith. He used the original barrel nut from the factory.

I can provide load data to the buyer; have found consistent sub-moa loads using 225 gr Sierra GameKings, 200 gr Barnes TTSX, 225 gr Partitions, and 250 gr Speer Hot-Cors. It's a very good shooter.

Update: Seems like the short LOP on the walnut stock is giving a lot of folks pause, so I dropped it into a full-length stock I found on eBay. It's been well-used, but this rifle was never a beauty queen, so... Did some Dremel and sandpaper work to get it all to fit. A rattle can job and maybe a little bedding work and you're set.

Here's a few crummy pics with the adult-sized stock:

Willing to sell with either stock, or both.
