What’s your weather like. Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.
Going to be in the 70s this week. Might get out to see if the cats are biting.

It was in the low 70s here over the weekend, so I took the boat down to the river for the first time this year. Water temp was still only 42-43° and the bite was really slow, but it sure was nice being on the water again 😁

It's supposed to cool back down to more seasonable temps this week (30s-50s) so it'll probably be a bit before the boat sees the water again.

Yeah, ice fishing was total garbage this winter... 10 days of walkable ice in January. That's 2 years of crap ice back to back.

I'm hoping the flip side of that is the catfish and carp bite turns on earlier than usual this spring. 55-60° water temp is when they start hitting around here.

Man this weather has been insane. We had a high of 70 on Saturday and a buddy and I trout fished a small stream near my house. I didn’t get so much as a follow, but my buddy broke off on a monster fish. Tell ya what after a long stretch of gray this winter that gave me an insane case of cabin fever, hearing the birds wing as the warmth of the sunshine beat upon my shoulders felt nothing short of heavenly!!

Last night I hit lower reaches of the same river hoping to locate monster browns in some deeper, darker holes and runs.

Instead I caught my first smallmouth of the season, my second dink northern, and my buddy caught a SLAB smallie!

We’ve been struggling to understand what the big deal is about this global warming stuff!

We’re up to 70 this weekend - it should be enough to get the springers moving in the Willamette River. Still a little early.
