more info hereToday, SCOTUS heard oral arguments in two major Chevron deference cases. Chevron deference is the legal doctrine that the courts ought to defer to the experts in government agencies to resolve ambiguities in the law. ATF and other agencies have used this doctrine to expand regulation far beyond the intent of the enabling legislation that Congress passed. The arguments did not go well for the government. We may soon be rid of this evil. My hoped for outcome: Agencies may not create rules that penalize people in ways that Congress did not specifically and clearly authorize. And that may well be what we get. If so, many of the recent ATF overreaches will happily (for us) go away.

This would be a great step in to cleaning out the illegal gov over reach

One would think but with Amy Conehead squalling about “toning it down” and Roberts being a committed leftist anything is possible.

This chevron case is massive and encompasses so many fed gov agencies that create rules to oppress America.
The EPA, the IRS, of course the ATF, etc. I hope SCOTUS helps America with this one.

Suppressors should be completely unregulated and untaxed, NFA or otherwise.

For answers to all questions get rid of the uniparty. Elect Trump and give him a truly conservative super majority willing to do the work of abandoning many decades of idiot legislation.

At WORSE they should be 4473 items and be done. OR if the Suppressor check is more in dept etc - once I pass 1, the next ones should be rubber stamp. Turn around is minutes, not months.

Except Trump used the ATF's overreach via Chevron to shut down bump stocks. It needs to be agnostic of administration.

Suppressors should be completely unregulated and untaxed, NFA or otherwise. "keeping and bearing" arms should be unregulated too, for those not adjudicated as being mentally unfit. Where, in the Second Amendment, does is say "with a paid for and .gov authorized permit"???

My fear is that even if Chevron is tossed, the lower coastal courts will find new and novel ways to acquiesce to the agencies.

Cheveron was never mentioned in the oral arguments of the bump stock case. It appears ATF's resigned to the forth coming loss in the fishing case quoted in the OP's article, which was argued in January.

Suppressors should be completely unregulated and untaxed, NFA or otherwise. ATF unintentionally opened that can of worms in one of the brace cases, arguing they had some exemptions due to the NFA being a tax law. FPC jumped all over that questioning the tradition and history of taxing firearms, or any other right. So we might be starting to see some cracks in the NFA.
