A friend has this rifle and was just wondering the value, I don't know if it will be for sale in the future or not. I would like to post pictures but having computer issues. Rifle is in very good to excellent condition for it's age with only 2 tiny dings on the forend. Blueing on barrel is very good and receiver has a little wear from probably carrying. Has a 26" octagon barrel with typical front sight and buckhorn rear. serial # 3491xx. It has a half mag tube that ends at the end of forend and rounded steel butt plate. Thanks for any help.

Danny, that M94 was serialized in 1907. Hard to come up with value without pics, but originality and condition would rule. The rear buckhorn sight is likely not original to the gun, it should have a Winchester Flat Top rear sight with serrated edges.

How common might a full octagon barrel be with half magazine? Other than special order, seems likely a "tilt" in respect of originality. i do agree completely that without pix, can't do justice to a realistic evaluation. Good Luck! John

As others have said, difficult to narrow it down without pictures. Just going on your description and assuming original finish I would give a WAG of around $1500. I don't know how common the octagon barrel with button magazine is but I've seen a few for sale. I have one in .25-35 and a round barrel/button mag in .38-55. They're my favorite configuration with the 26" barrel. Cabelas has this round barrel .38-55 for $1400 (marked down from $2300) for comparison

I have one built in 1923 according to the serial number. 38-55, button magazine, octagon barrel. Nice rifles.

I have one. A 1906 production. Probably little rougher than the one described. It was appraised at $2200 at the LGS. The magazine is a full barrel length

Nothing worthwhile to add other than I have never seen a 94 with a button magazine and a 26" barrel. I have to agree with tmitch, that is now my favorite configuration with a 26" barrel. I'm especially jealous of luvrifles having one with an octagon barrel.
My favorite 94 with a 24" barrel was a .38-55 I saw in a photograph. It had a full magazine, shotgun butt and pistol grip, with nice checkering.
