Seller claims this is a Tom Burgess rifle. It is not.
https://www.gunsinternational.com/g...16-taylor-w-leupold.cfm?gun_id=102615097

Multiple reasons. Tom didn’t do stock work.
I had the metal work built and it wasn’t done by Burgess.

Chuck,
The rings were made by Thos M Burgess. At one time I had 5 sets. I used a set on that 416.
However the rest of the barreled action was done by another very good metal guy. I ordered it so I know.

I sold it and that blank to a friend who had it completed. The barrel band and front sight were install by the stockmaker who also installed the peep sight on the rear scope mount base.

Will buy you a drink of your choice if you can name the metal man.

The fellow who ordered the stock died. I lost track of that rifle.

That is a beautiful rifle. It always amazes me when someone recognizes a rifle on the interwebs that they previously owned. I guess when you get into uber high end stuff and big game rifles such as this the pond shrinks considerably. Unfortunately I do not swim in that pond apparently.

I wouldn’t buy the rifle just because the top scope ring screws are not clocked…. cool

Action work, scope bases, barrel, and barrel band by Ted Blackburn when he was personally making his bottom metal in Springville UT. Thos M Burgess made the QD scope rings.

Anybody guess who made the stock? I supplied the blank. It is true French from Tessier. The stockmaker installed the front sight and the peep in the rear scope base.

I had forgotten that Ted made the barrel band.

Hint, the stockmaker lives in the area around Kalispell MT.

Mandarino is a fabulous stockmaker but he didn’t do this one.
