I have a Burris Fastfire III Red Dot and the battery compartment screw has failed….the slot where you tighten with a screw driver has expanded so you cannot tighten the cap….where can I get a new cap screw? Has anyone seen this happen before? Need some help…. emailed Burris but have not heard back.

Is it a screwdriver slot or a coin slot?

Never mind, just saw this on the Burris site: Use a full sized flat-head screw driver that fills the entire battery cap slot when installing the battery cap.

Sounds like someone used an undersized screwdriver on it. In any case, Burris will send you another, I'm sure.

This seems to be a common issue with this sight. On another forum, several mentioned it. One sent the entire sight back and Burris replaced it. Lots of complaints about the difficulty of properly seating the cap when a battery is installed.

Burris is sending me a new battery cap. I have purchased a Duracell battery #1632 that is thinner and will make it easier to seat the cap...will see. Thanks for the help guys.

That what has been said, I have been using too small of a screwdriver has been my problem. that and taking battery out at end of turkey season. Don’t need to take it out….stupid on my part. Got a driver that will fit threads now. Oh, guy posted on Old Gobbler forum to use a dab of choke tube grease on threads…..helps from cross threading and easier seating.

I buggered the screw slot on mine. A quick call to Burris and had a replacement cap in hand a couple days later. No questions asked...

the cap on mine would not stay in place. Called Burris and they sent me a new one. Works fine.

It doesn't matter how fast you miss.
