I often see the Burris Fullfield II ballistic plex recommended as a good value, lightweight, set and forget hunting scope with a simple holdover reticle. Given that the Fullfield II isn't available anymore here, what are some alternatives? Maven RS2? Any other options?

I have several of the Burris Droptine Ballistic Plex scopes and like them better than the FF II that I had.

I’ve got several of the Burris E1 and like them a lot, especially the discontinued illuminated ones.

You can still get them on Amazon.

Or as Houser posted...

What is the difference between the Droptine & the FFII?

Droptine has a power selector ring instead of whole eyepiece turning.

Turrets
FFII – Old school coin-slot style turrets
Droptine – Modern E1-style, finger-adjustable turrets (that can accept custom dials)

Aesthetics
FFII – Knurled, low profile turret caps
Droptine – Typical looking turret caps

That would be a welcome change. Thanks.

Thanks - Amazon won't ship scopes to NZ from what I gather. Will check out the Droptine.

Can you buy off of ebay? I'd look for a used FFII. The droptine seems like a pile. There's no substitute that I've seen, for the good ol Burris FFII 3-9x40 with ballistic plex. If you can buy from ebay, find a good used/like new FFII.

Also, Doug is slightly off base on the turret of the FFII. They are knurled, so you can turn them by hand. They are not numbered. They don't need to be though, since the FFII is a "set and forget" scope, with an excellent reticle. Just zero for your distance, where you can use the reticle out to 4-500 yards, and you are good to go.

You can get them in the US at least delivered this week 4.5-14x42 for $159.

Your best bet may be to have an American friend buy & ship then to you as long as they aren’t prohibited by ITAR.

You’re wrong as usual. The Droptine is just fine and preferred over the FFII, as the fixed eyepiece makes it easier to use flip open scope covers.

I like the eyepiece and the power ring selector on the Droptine better the the E1 or FF11. Would bet the glass is the same. Wish the 4.5-14 Droptine had a side focus

The last FFII I had would turn both when trying to adjust one or the other.

POS. Tripped it here with the problem described in the post.

I would want a Droptine in hand before purchasing.
