"Camping places fix themselves in your mind as if you had spent long periods of your life in them. You will remember a curve of your wagon track in the grass of the plain like the features of a friend." Isak Dinesen
Used Trophy Takers for years but quality really went to crap here in the last few years. Have switched to Hamskea now. Far and away the top choice of my local pro shop.
A true sportsman counts his achievements in proportion to the effort involved and fairness of the sport. - S. Pope
I currently use the vapor trail drop away rest. No reason not to use a drop away I say. I don't particularly think any one is better than the other, I just happen to like the look of the vapor trail
Whisker, what’s there to break. I had a QAD HDX crap out on me. If I’m hunting I don’t want to have to wonder if my rest will work. The whisker is simple and easy. Easier to replace as well.
That said, I am a big believer in hamskea as well. But a hamskea doesn’t look or feel right on a light tree stand and stalking bow (Mathews heli-m, SQ2). I have one (trinity) on my halon 32 set up for long range shooting where I need all the help I can get.
Drop away here. I have used Trophy Taker, QAD and Trophy Ridge. On 2 of my 3 bows I'm running basic QAD hunters with great success. The other bow has IMS so I put the trophy Ridge Propel with IMS on it and have been pleased thus far. Never even considered a Whisker...just never cared for the design or the lack of ability to run as much helical on my fletching as I wanted to.
I remember in the early 70s my father took me to see a Fred Bear bow-hunting movie at a cinema. I believe Fred was using a bow very similar to yours, maybe even the very same kind?
