Bought my first one a year ago. 16 gauge, steel receiver, made in 1946. Feels like a 20 in my hands. Fell in love with it right away. Pheasants don't love it so much.

I've got one in 16 gauge. Great old shotguns, very smooth action.

My first shotgun was a 31L in 20ga. 28” mod choke. Used exclusively from age 8-19. Sold it to pay for college books in 2004. Bought another about 4 years ago, a regular 20ga with a 26” IC. Don’t shoot it as good as the original as I have too many others now that I cycle through. But carry it early season for pheasants and love it.
Have come full circle, and wish many times I would have kept the original and just hunted with it instead of buying others to try.

My first shotgun was a well used 4 digit 31TC with a Cutts Compensator. Very slick action. Was disappointed when I bought a Winchester Model 12 years later to discover how clunky they operated in comparison. My younger brother has been using it for quail for over 40 years now. I would love to purchase another one in 20 gauge.
Too close for irons, switching to scope...

I learned to shoot trap with one. Big fan. Dad bought it off my dentist for 75 bucks IIRC in the 90's. Full choked but dang, it's slick. I've tried to like the Win M12 but the 31 beats it handily for me.

I like the Model 12 and that was THE pump shotgun when I grew up but ever since the first time I handled a Model 31 I’ve switched over - I really can’t think of many guns that have a smoother action!! I have a 31 TC Trap. They were known as the ball bearing corn sheller.

I'm not much of a shotgun guy, not compared to rifles. But... A Remington Model 31 Date code July 1940, riot gun marked "L.A.P.D." Exact nomenclature not of recollection and one of the MIA photo files index lost. But the XL files, as defined. Simple, great condition as not showing much use or any abuse. Just to be expected "patina". Never fired it yet, but from all appearances, still ready to go. I'd made inquires of Los Angeles P.D. But such record files no longer exist. I covet it! Best! John

I own 2 M31’s currently. Both 12 ga, one is a 31-S, the other is a 31-H. Both solid ribs and dove killing machines.

I’ve got two 31 16 gauges. Bought one last year and the other my grandfather bought new and was my first gun. It has killed hundreds of animals
