Been looking at this fixed 10x scope from Athlon. It's been out for a little while now, and I was wondering if anyone here has one and what you think of it. Only thing I see that’s an improvement over the SWFA is a zero stop. Less adjustment range, heavier, unproven, Chinese AFIK; side focus is a neutral. Hard to decide about the reticle from pics. I suppose it’s prettier….
Amazon has one at $269.

Tough to compete with the bulletproof and proven SWFA 10x, regularly showing up on the used market for $250 ish. Made in Japan.

The price increase for an SWFA is just a little bit more, and the 10x42's are usually in stock. I see no reason to go with the Athlon.

I have both Athlon and SWFA scopes and honestly I’d wait and see what the new gen of SWFA looks like.

That’s actually my scope and it just sold…. Little less than my asking price but now I’m stuck between getting the Athlon over a 12x42 SWFA. I’ve heard the glass is better on the Athlon over the SWFA.

I’ve never handled the fixed power Athlon, they may have better glass. SWFA isn’t known for stellar glass, although it is certainly decent. I’m not sure you can get a more dependable target scope for the money than the 10x SWFA. What did you not like about it? If you decide to go Athlon be sure to let us know what you think of it.
