I have Rule's book and know it pretty well, but if a person has the serial # from the gun is there a place to look/call to find out which model that serial number was?

No factory records or database exists identifying caliber or configuration of individual Pre64 M70’s. There are Factory Polishing Room Records (date a gun was serialized) for some, but not all s/n ranges. Factory production numbers identifying total yearly and total caliber and configuration numbers and monthly s/n ranges are available, but again nothing exists for individual guns.

I have always heard polishing room records referenced. Where do you find a copy of those.
