No.

He was a Methodist.
Some might even posit that he was a bit Socialist too.

Maybe HE had Unitarian leanings?

Was being harangued by a street preacher one time. He said Jesus was Jewish. Told him He was only half Jewish. Even got a chuckle and a "You're right" from him.

I think any good quotes but not limited to. Just use your own judgment.

I enjoy genuine discussions about religion and in particular Christianity. Iā€™m finding the word genuine to refer apply most conversations the older that in get. Fortunately, or unfortunately, this particular board isnā€™t a good place for extended genuine conversations.

Threads centered around subjects related to christianity are typically carpet bombed by two accounts supposedly originating in Australia. They are circular thinkers and demonstrate a love for attacking the Christian faith.

Based on my experiences and observations I thought about the ā€œstarting pointā€ at which I would like to have begun years ago. At this point in my life I would try to understand everything in the Old and New Testament based on Christā€™s words to the disciples in Luke 24:44-49.

There is a Marxist ploy.. Can't debate the Merits. Change the definition. Not Christian huh? Why all the Crosses?

Itā€™s fairly obvious that you are a grinder of axes and not here to discuss the merits of the Christian faith. I simply choose not to go down that path with you which is why I also did not choose to start a conversation with you within this thread.

I simply do not care to hear you regurgitate old and tired objections to Christianity based on whatever the limitations of your intellect.

You appear to be secure and safe with your beliefs. Be at peace.

I think that section was titled Christians at the Campfire or something similar. In those days I was helping a disabled guy who was on that thread a lot and it seems like the whole thing became contentious due to trolling, insensitive folks, etc..

Guess that all depends on YOUR definition of Christian. Some of the scummiest POS vile corrupt evil beings claim to be devout Christians. More people have been killed in the name of Christianity than ANY other cause. Sounds like something to end not promote.
It seems like this is one of those guys that has his own very special personal definition of "Christian", which could prevent him from appreciating such a forum and approaching it in a positive manner. But, like some others, he probably would not be able to stay away from it or restrain himself from commenting there.

I can't think of a reason not to have such a group and I don't know why we should hesitate of having it among non believers. Those who don't have any interest can move along to another thread.

For anyone who is interested in reading and learning the Bible, here is a link to a really good source for doing just that. https://www.biblereadingplan.org/

Not only that, but stick with one of the better translations. I know the KJV is a little harder to read and understand, but different translations can actually tell you something different than what you should be reading. Like I said, God allows Satan to use the Bible in his deceptions.
I prefer a good study Bible, because it will often direct you to a different Scripture that reinforces what youā€™re reading. I have used KJV, NKJV, and a devotional Bible in the newer version of TNSV, which was a gift. My church, ā€œFaith Baptistā€ uses the KJV all the time, but like I said we always use other Scripture to reinforce what weā€™re learning.
Iā€™ve attended several churches that do not do this, which is why I feel they people should be cautious in doing your homework and find a good one!
I often use Bible Gateway as it is very easy to use even for a guy like me who is a technophobe!šŸ˜€ Computers and phones can be used for good or evil.
Find a good church with a good preacher. I kid you not, a good church makes you want to be there because it will feed your soul!
Christianity is something to be shared. A good church will definitely help you become a better person and more effective at talking to others who may think something different.
This is a helpful thread in spite of others seeking to turn in into a whizzing contest. Weā€™re all free to believe in whatever creams your own Twinky. And the fact that others are trying to attack it and derail the discussion should point out the simple fact that itā€™s helpful!
Fire away , idiots!šŸ˜€šŸ˜€šŸ˜€

This thread is a perfect illustration of why the old Christ at the Campfire was axed.

Fine...revive the Christian board and have at it, instead of involving everyone else.

You won't do that as it will implode as before and you will just blame non Christian posters...even if they don't have access to the board.

Why not go to a Bible forum, and start an outdoor thread?

If I remember correctly you had to be enabled to access that particular board, and the issue was the christians? that frequented it pulling the same Iambetterthanyou crap they are pulling here.

Being a victim is apparently very fulfilling.

Are you implying that all treads on the forum should be outdoor related? The be never been a part of a board where all threads and post were that narrow.

There was a clear reason why Christ At The Campfire was taken down, and I have pointed out that reason in my post.
Anything that is helpful to believers is bound to be attacked, either by evil intent or just plain people being idiots.
The same battle weā€™re seeing right here gives truth to what I have said.
The more you guys attack others, the more my point is proven!
So are you actively working against other people, or are you one of those people who get off on causing others misery? šŸ˜€
Each person should ask themselves this question before weighing in on any subject.
This is the reason many of us have a fairly low post count. If I donā€™t have something good to add, I pass by threads that donā€™t interest me. I also generally try to avoid being drawn into a whizzing ingest!šŸ˜€
Twenty three years on the ā€˜Campfire, and most of my compadres on here are the same way.

Iā€™d rather have a Bible forum instead of ā€œhey fellas do you like waldorf brennenā€ or the weekly im ratodded and forget that I post a ā€œfavorite john wayne threadā€ONCE A WEEK

Itā€™s been my experience that most hunters and gun nuts are either Christians themselves or share a general belief in being good people themselves. I have come across few hunters who actively provoke arguments, and I know of absolutely zero true Christians who will try to provoke disharmony.
Like is said, ask yourself a question about why youā€™re posting something on a bulletin board discussion, and act accordingly.
It ainā€™t rocket science, and itā€™s fairly easy to pick out the trolls and idiots! šŸ˜€
I donā€™t have but a couple people on ignore. Even a blind pig finds a nut once in a while, and even idiots know who is looking for an argument!šŸ˜€
I know usually who someone is after reading a few a their post, and I reply or I skip a comment accordingly.

Through years of observation, I have noticed two major groups of Christians, there are those devout Christians that lead a quiet family oriented life...people I would like to emulate, have as valued friends and neighbors, religion or not...
And then there are the noisy proselytizers...these men need you to know what their beliefs are and pushy about it, preferring the stick over the carrot, extremely judgemental and using the harsh words implying ignorance, unenlightenment, destined to hell and just generally regarding non believers in the same category as second class people. They all share one universal principle....it's my way (fill in religion or denomination here) or the highway. Coincidentally a striking resemblance to Islam, which has no tolerance for non-believers.
Thus, personally, I try to avoid the proselytizers...finding their profound and stunning assumptions of superiority tiring.
But by all means, if you want a religious thread, have at it...it harms no one that I can see.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
