Damn that’s harsh

In Tennessee, the fish cops probably just confiscate your 1978 Beau James chevy with glass packs and Thrush sticker

Sure is!

There used to be Thousands in the North Saskatchewan River, they were fished and sold at fish markets to near extinction, back in the early 1900's

They are a blast to catch, the one in the picture went for an 80 yard run. I had one on that was at least 90 to 100 lbs. Bastird straighten out my hook when I got him to shore and he saw me.

He had the same reaction that women do when they see me cool

My late Grandfather used to tell me stories about an Indian ditch tender who worked for the irrigation district when he was a little boy.
Apparently this Indian would stand on the bank of our river with a long sharpened pole. He would wait for a large wake and spear the sturgeon as they came by. A huge one rolled and broke his spear once. They found the 12 footer in the brush the next morning. This would have been sometime in the late 1920's or early 30's.

In the mid 80’s I was fishing at Sturgeon Landing, SK where the Sturgeon-Weir river empties into Namew Lake right on the MB border. We were catching walleye on mister twister tipped jigs when I got a snag. We were wrapping up for the evening anyway so pulled anchor and motored over to try pull the snag from above it. After yanking on the “snag” a few times it slowly started swimming upstream. We followed for a bit but it was clear that I wasn’t even hindering the sturgeon’s motion with my 8lb test walleye setup. I pulled by hand until the knot snapped at the jig head. I have no clue how big the fish was - would’ve been cool see it. They look almost armor plated so would’ve been interesting to see where I snagged it with that small hook.

I think you have to know where the swim bladder is but it looks like that does work
