Try parallel parking an 18 wheeler- - - -I used to have to do that at some of the places I made deliveries.
Been there done that. Didn't buy the shirt.
Delivered 5 and dime freight from Maine to Wisconsin, to Texas.
Big cities, little Appalachian towns.
Our 16 year old daughter got her license a couple months ago.
The testing place is close, and they have a place made with delineators for
the parallel park test. We were practicing, she had it down in my Fusion (no camera)
"I wonder how hard it would be in Mom's van?"
"It's bigger Em, but everything is the same, just less room."
The next time her and her mom were out the called me, " Em wants to try it, come over I'm not any help for her."
When I showed up, the van was in the spot.
It was the second attempt, the first required a pull up, the second was perfect.
She tested a week later in the car.
Perfect, no pull-ups. The tester didn't even get out of the car.
It's a simple skill, easily taught be someone who understands it.
I taught her Mom the CDL maneuvers, including the 90 degree parallel park.
In a semi. She passed easily.
She also refuses to parallel a car, or learn how.
The biggest difficulty is saying screw the guy waiting,
once you get rattled it's over.
Backing in, out, and down alleys in the store delivery job got me used to saying
"Screw them, I gotta do this!"
