My old 19O3 Springfield that was sporterized (probably back in the 1950's or 1960's) has a Dayton Traister Mark II safety. It has been in the family since about 1965 and has always been a dependable ( and accurate) rifle, however recently I had the safety fall out or the bolt sleeve. I'm not sure what the issue is. I've tried to find the installation instructions online for this safety without success.
If anyone has those instructions could you please post them.
Or if anyone has suggestions to help fix the problem I would certainly appreciate it.
Tom

My dads 03-A3 sporter build from 1960 has a Mark II safety made by Walt Loderwick of Portland ,Oregon. I believe he sold the design to Dayton Traister in the late 1960's.

I think it's a son in law that's still running the Dayton business from Oak Harbor, Washington. Google them up and give him a call.

Jkob,
Thanks for the offer.
Upon further examination, it appears as though a piece of the bolt sleeve behind the notch that was filed to install the safety has broken off. (Maybe it was filed too deep 60 years ago?)
So I'm going to order a new bolt sleeve and install a safety.
Does anyone have suggestions for the best two position safety?
Buehler?
Old Redfield?
Mark II?
Other?
Also, will a bolt sleeve for a 1903 fit on a 1903-A3?
Thanks for advice!

I don't mean to put down the Dayton-Traister but, in my opinion, the Timney "Beuhler" style is a better option. And the 3 position swing safety is even better. My 2 pennies.

Why do I have to press 1, for English?

Or the two position one!
